Sidebar and Breadcrumbs

Question

Recent navigation changes in Confluence are great, but not for everyone.

For our internal purposes, we need a way to:

* As an admin to be able to control what items all our users can see on their sidebar and can add/remove items without each user manually adjusting their own sidebar.
* Show full breadcrumbs by default, right you need to click the down arrow to show more and see the hierarchy

Is there any way how these can be achieved? Any recommendations on third party apps are welcome. Confluence Cloud

Oh wait, forgot that there IS a bug for how breadcrumbs stay hidden when there is minimal content that can't be scrolled to "trigger" the navigation path:

I guess we all could vote. OR they could just fix this stupid bug.

Actually, it's worse than that. Breadcrumbs don't show up AT ALL if Atlassian deems your page content too "short".

For instance, I just helped a user move a page, and finding the hierarchy of the destination page was incredibly difficult because it was nested 6-pages deep, but it was a "parent placeholder" page with no content so it didn't have enough content to allow scrolling which would trigger the breadcrumbs to show (and it was nested 6-pages deep). GEEZ.

What is this obsession with white space?

Honestly this feels more like a bug than a feature request. I think I'll re-file it.

Hi @Igor and welcome to the Community.

In my previous company - Emplifi, I deployed Scroll Sites (formerly known as Scroll Viewport) by K15t to create an internal only documentation and intranet sites for the same reason - declutter the UI and only present content that people actually need.

The site looked very much like this public version of the site: https://docs.emplifi.io/

The internal site was protected by our SSO so we could give SSO access also to our employees without a Confluence seat. The actual Confluence space stays private (no anonymous access required).

You can use Scroll Site with a single space or several spaces. In the latter case, each space will have it's own navigation tree, but all spaces will have a single common landing page.
