How to make custom fields as mandatory

Question

Hi, I would like to make few custom fields as mandatory. For Eg: We are using Forms to complete the closure review, however, I can't make completing the forms as mandatory before moving the incident to "Closure review" from "Incident restored" status.

Also, I would like to add few fields like Root cause, trigger, impact as mandatory fields while moving the incident to "Incident restored" status.

Please guide me in updating the same.

Hey!

1. You can use automation rules to add a new form to an issue if it's not already added. Then you'll need to add the the "Require form submission on a request" rule on the workflow transition. Fields can be marked as mandatory in the forms editor.

2. You can do that by adding the "Validate a field" rule to the workflow transition.

You can make the fields in the forms mandatory, add the aditional fields you mentioned, and them add validators to the transition to make sure everything is done before the work item can progress:
