Amend fields in sub-tasks only

Question

We have a number of projects with screen schemes for different work types.  We would like to make changes to sub-tasks for all projects, which is to add a new field and remove an existing field.  This is for sub-tasks only.  The only way I know to do this is to remove sub-tasks from each screen scheme in each project and create a separate screen scheme for sub-tasks for each project, which feels like quite a bit of work and maintenance going forward. Is there a more efficient way of amending fields for sub-tasks only?

As for myself, I would create a separate screen scheme with screens, naming screens like "TMP: Sub-Task Create Screen", "TMP: Sub-Task View/Edit Screen", and scheme with naming something like "TMP: Sub-Task Screen Scheme", and assign it to the sub-task issue type in the scheme, like "TMP: Work Type Screen Scheme" in  "Work type screen scheme".

In my example, "TMP" is the project key. I use project keys as prefixes to more easily locate screens and schemes for specific projects.

Thank you, just so I understand, how could that occur, is there a difference with Team Managed Projects in this area?  I think ours are all company managed

Thank you. Would I need new screen schemes as well?  We have separate schemes for separate work types in some of our projects
