Is it possible to add extra columns to the timeline view?

Unfortunately, the timeline available within the board you cannot configure additional column in it.
You can utilize Advanced planning features, but you need to have Jira Premium for thatShow or hide columns in your plan timeline | Jira Cloud | Atlassian Support
