How on earth can I delete my Jira account?

No matter what I Google or what Jira documentation I read there is no way to permanently delete my account.

And there is no way to contact support.

Deleting an account should be a simple operation. Jira appear to be intent on keeping my personal data.

This is illegal in the UK under the UK GDPR.

Does anyone actually know where the delete account option is?

Hi @Eff off Jira , welcome to the community.

If you wish to delete your Atlassian account please use the following instructions:

Go to your Account Settings: Visit id.atlassian.com/manage-profile.
Select Account Preferences: In your profile, find the "Account preferences" section.
Delete Your Account: Scroll to the "Delete your account" section and select "Delete account."
Confirm Deletion: Carefully read the information about what happens when you delete your account, then confirm the deletion in the dialog that appears.

Important notes:

After requesting deletion, your account will be deactivated for a 14-day grace period. During this time, you can cancel the deletion if you change your mind.
After 14 days, your account and personal data will be permanently deleted from Atlassian services (except for data Atlassian is required to keep for legal reasons).
If your account is managed by your organization, you cannot delete it yourself; contact your admin instead.
Deleting your Atlassian account does not delete accounts for Jira Align, Halp, Opsgenie, or Loom. These must be deleted separately if needed

If you just want to delete your Jira (or other product) user account speak to your Jira admin.

Except I now get this:

"You can't delete your account. Your account can't be deleted because:

User is last billing admin of a transaction account that has one or more active entitlements."

But I was only trialling it and have no billing account. I am the only admin too.

All the more reason for not using this over bloated software that has so much outdated documentation it's virtually impossible to learn how to use it :-/

I can understand your frustration at wanting to remove your account but running into an unfortunate error. With this said, the error is due to you still having an active site and the error prevents someone from abandoning a site of a billing contact. In this case, the best path forward is to follow Deleting your Atlassian Account when you are the Billing or Technical Contact then to proceed with the deletion of your account.

Can you help me? I created a Loom account only for a job application that required me to record a short video of myself. I ended up not applying. Now I cannot delete Loom no matter what I do. This is very concerning and a violation of my privacy. I need my data removed from Loom/Jira/Atlassian, whatever y'all are called, ASAP, or I am filing a formal complaint. This is ridiculous.

If the self-service options for account deletion cannot be completed, please contact support for assistance. Create a support ticket at Atlassian Support under “Personal Data and GDPR" - select "Request a copy of your personal data" and state the reason that an Atlassian account deletion is required and why the self-service options cannot be utilized. Add a link to this Forum post to the ticket as well.

After validating your eligibility and authentication, our support team can help expedite a request. Please know we can only accelerate Atlassian account deletion to the earliest of 15 days.

@Maksym Liutyi I need eligiblity to cancel a free service? Wow. Absurd. It's fine. I do not have any credit card information linked, so I am just going to let it go. I shouldn't have to jump through hoops to cancel a FREE Loom account that somehow automatically signed me up for millions of other things I did not request. Shady!
