Automate Jira Task Creation from Teams Chat Based on Keyword –Seeking Third-Party App Recommendation

Question

Hi everyone,

I’m looking to automatically create Jira tasks whenever a message containing a specific keyword is posted in a Microsoft Teams Group or Personal chat.

Could you please suggest any third-party apps or tools that can help achieve this integration?

Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

Hi @Sudhanshu Ray

I am Britta from yasoon - we’re a vendor specialized in connecting Microsoft 365 tools with Jira, Jira Service Management and Confluence. With the app Microsoft 365 for Jira, you can set up a Teams integration that reacts to keywords posted in a Teams channel or in the personal bot chat (though not directly in group chats). These triggers can then be used in Jira Automation to automatically create new tasks. You can even link the Teams post directly to the Jira issue for better context.

You’ll find our app on the Atlassian Marketplace: Microsoft 365 for Jira (Outlook Email, Teams, Calendar)

Also, the Microsoft Teams integration allows users to create new Jira issues directly from Microsoft Teams chats and channel conversations, making it easy to bring important discussions into Jira for further action. Once an issue is created, Jira users can respond from Jira and start working on it right away, while all related communication stays accessible both in Microsoft Teams and in Jira: Create new issues based on chats/channel conversations

The app is free for teams with up to 10 users, and larger teams can try it out with a 30-day free trial.

If you’d like to see how this could work for your use case, feel free to reach out here or book a short demo with us. We’re always happy to walk through specific scenarios together.

Best, Britta

Hi @Sudhanshu Ray

Just noticed that Atlassian is introducing another AI feature for work creation from MS Teams. Although it doesn’t appear to create work items automatically, it’s still worth exploring:
