Favicon alternating between two versions, why?

Question

I've noticed recently that the favicon seems to be swapping back and forth between a transparent background icon and a filled blue background icon, with no rhyme or reason that I can make out. I can refresh the tab, and it will swap to the other, and vice versa.

(Note: my tabs are down the left side rather than across)

Is there a reason for this? It isn't by project, or type, anything that I can determine. It's at times distracting.

Hi @Louise Baker

"Static" assets like the favicon file are served by AWS CloudFront, which is the AWS content distribution network (CDN, for the nerds).

A CDN is a complex thing; it's a fleet of servers that remember responses to requests. When you load that asset, you connect to one of the systems in the fleet, which might not be perfectly in sync with the others, and it responds with a different image.

This is further complicated that your system can be asked to remember an image too, which is why @Dan Breyen suggested flushing your browser cache.

There's not much you can do on your side, just wait for the cached elements to expire.

Hi @Louise Baker I'm not sure if it's related, but I did find JRACLOUD-65492 on Atlassian's Jira Site.

Is this happening for all users?  Have you tried different browsers? Have you tried flushing your browser cache?  Those are just a couple of troubleshooting things I can think of.  Should it be doing that?  I would say no.  If you've tried those steps and are still having the issue, I would suggest having Atlassian Support weigh in.

Hope that helps.
