Upload file is disabled from Jira comments

Question

I have SW company managed project, is created from a template. I see that the image icon in the comments is missing and the file upload also does not seem to open a file browser pop up. I cannot come up with a reasonable answer to my mystery.

Anywhere I click the option to File disappears. Hoping someone ran into this and figured it out :-)

The template may have some settings or permissions missing. This can stop the image icon and file upload from working. Try to check the project settings or ask your admin if file uploads are allowed. Sometimes, using a different browser or clearing cache can also fix this.

Got sidetracked yesterday, AI suggested:

Change the renderer of the "Comment" field to "Wiki Style Renderer" in Project settings > Fields.

Create a JIRA Ticket or Bug and upload the image in the comment using the editor.

Ensure that the ability to render the images into thumbnails is enabled.

I checked for #1, but need to look on how or where to check on #3.
