Is there a way to carry squad value when splitting an issue?

The SPLIT option present when right-click over an issue in backlog is very useful, however, issues created that way are not appearing on my board because the SQUAD option becomes empty.
Labels, Epic, reporter, assignee... all copied properly, but to populate the squad is necessary to open individual child tickets and Edit.
Note that SQUAD is a mandatory field, but, that is not persisted as desired.

When you split an issue, Jira already tries to copy over the system fields it knows. But squad, being a custom field set up specifically in your instance, is not known in this out-of-the-box implementation as it is not present by default in Jira.

I expect you should be able to overcome this with an automation rule. When you split an issue, you are actually creating a new issue with a link to the original issue. That link has the type split from. While I haven't tested it out yet, I would assume you should be able to copy the squad value from the linked issue with a work item created or work item linked trigger.
