Backlog searching

Question

how can i filter the backlog by a sprint and see the stories. when i search a sprint - I find the sprint but it tells me there are X number of stories in the sprint and those stories are not displayed. when i clear the search, I do not retain the position in the backlog. this is becoming very problematic as we have multiple teams all using the same high-level project - hence using the same backlog space.

Yes I totally understand why y'all are confused. Life was simply when i use to have a jira project that was mine alone.  The jira project I use is used by other teams within the company and I have multiple pods within my team all running different sprints.   This setup is not negotiable. I have no control over this. My backlog stories get put into future sprints in the backlog, I start sprints from the backlog. My team sprint names start with the letter Z so I must wade through EVERYONE elses work before finding my team's sprint to start. Hence the desire to be able to use the search function on the backlog.

I agree with @Laurie Sciutti  ...  I live my life by JQL query :-) ... you should be able to go to the issue navigator and use something like Sprint = 12345 and Issuetype = Story;

To fix your board display (if that is the problem), you would have to modify the Board Filter JQL to let the stories pass through.

Hello @Laurie Shimer ~ I'm not sure I completely understand your question since technically, backlogs don't have sprints assigned in a Scrum board (issues are shown in their respective sprint "buckets").  That said, can you provide a bit more info?  Are you filtering within a board or via JQL?  If a board, check that your board filter isn't excluding those stories you expect to find.  It might also be that you have a quick filter selected that is limiting what is shown on the board.  Do you see a "clear filters" button at the top of your board? If so, try clearing that. If a JQL, can you provide the search you are using?
