Kindly Suggest third party apps for Project Portfolio , Resource Management by Department.

Question

Hello Dear Team,

I just want to know the Best suitable 3rd party applications for Project Management like..

1. Project Portfolio .
2. Resource Management by Department.

3. Portfolio Scoring.

4. Portfolio Monthly status update.

The above mention 4, Needs to be replicate in the Jira Dashboards to take over from Smartsheet's.

Earlier, Our clients have been using Smart sheets , in Which They were replicated the data in the  Dashboards in rich manner. (Smartsheet Dashboards)

Is there a way to project similar Kind of Dashboards (Not Exactly similar)  In Jira by using 3rd party application which are available in the Atlassian Market place.

Any suggestions on this will be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Suneel Babu.

Hi @suneel babu

I’d like to introduce TeamBoard ProScheduler, a popular app on the Atlassian Marketplace that simplifies project and resource management right inside Jira.

It’s perfect for organizing resources by department and creating insightful dashboards to keep your projects on track.

Give it a try, it’s easy to set up and could be just what you need to streamline your workflow. Let me know if you need any help!

Best,

Liam

Mary from Planyway · Answer

Based on your requirements to replicate Smartsheet-like dashboards in Jira for project portfolio management, resource management, portfolio scoring, and monthly status updates, I highly recommend Planyway for Jira as a comprehensive solution.

Planyway addresses all four of your key requirements:

* Project Portfolio Management:

* Visual timeline with portfolio overview

* Gantt-like chart view for multiple projects

* Customizable portfolio dashboards

* Resource Management by Department:

* Team workload visualization

* Resource allocation tracking

* Capacity planning across departments

* Color-coded assignments by team/department

Alternative Options to Consider:

* BigPicture: more complex but excellent for enterprise portfolio management

* Structure: good for hierarchical portfolio views

* Advanced Roadmaps: native Jira solution

Dave Rosenlund (Trundl) · Answer

Hello, @suneel babu  👋

I will refrain from recommending one since I work for a company (Trundl) that makes one (Simple Portfolio Management), and used to work for a company that makes another (Tempo > Structure).

However, I will suggest that whatever you hear here in the responses, try 2 or 3 of them and compare them. This is an area where you have a lot of choices and the product that is best for you, may not be the best for others.

Look at the leaders (they are the leaders for a reason), but also consider the newer apps. They're usually more innovative and different because they don't have legacy architectures and code bases that can be hard to change. And, they're usually less expensive, too.

Also, the newer are built on Atlassian's newest/most secure platform framework (called Forge).

Hope this helps.
