Logging Time under a sub task

Dear Members ,

Please help me , we should be able to log multiple time under a single sub task , for eg if a sub task is estimated for 2 days that is 16 hours , I should be able to log that 16 hours , split as and when i work on it during the sprint duration of 2 weeks that I work on it , so this becomes multiple work log entries on the same sub task .

That is possible with Jira out of the box.

Simply use the Log Work option on the specified subtask each time that you want to log the time you spent working on the subtask.

Time tracking must be enabled for your Jira instance, and you must have permission to log time against issues in the desired project.

Here’s how to do it:

Open the sub-task in a full-page view.
In the top-right corner, click the "⋯" (More actions) menu.
Select "Log work" — this allows you to add a new time entry.
Repeat this as many times as needed throughout the sprint.

Jira allows you to track time progressively on a single sub-task. Using its built-in time tracking feature, you can log separate work entries whenever you spend time on the issue—just use the Log Work option each time.

If you’re open to using third-party applications, you might consider a solution that allows logging multiple work entries across different dates in a single action. If you already know that you worked a consistent amount of time each day—for example, 2 hours daily over several days—it might be more efficient to log time for all those days at once instead of creating individual entries.

Some add-ons like WorklogPRO support entering time for multiple days at once, which can be especially helpful when adding worklogs retrospectively. Otherwise, using the built-in Log Work option each time you work on the issue is the standard approach in Jira.

To simplify this process, WorklogPRO provides its own Log Work dialog that includes a period selection feature. You can choose from three options:

Daily
Daily Skipping Weekends
Weekly

If you select Daily, the system will create a separate worklog entry for each day between the selected start date and end date, applying the specified time spent value to each day.

If you choose Daily Skipping Weekends), it behaves the same way, but it will exclude weekends from the worklog entries.

If you select Weekly, the system will log one work entry per week within the selected date range, again using the provided time spent value.
