Smartlink with OneDrive/SharePoint are not working

Hello,

when we adding a link to OneDrive or SharePoint it does not get recognized as smartlink. Also adding directly a smartlink as content in a space shows only the message that content can´t be shown for this link.

Is there any restriction with OneDrive and SharePoint links?
Anything we can do to make them work?

For Google Drive links it works e.g.

You can use an app like SharePoint Connector from the Marketplace it has way more capabilities that the plain smart links and it's free up to 10 users.

Thanks, I´m aware of third party apps but since this is an official feature from Confluence I´d like to use it or at least know why it is not working.

Hi @Peter and welcome to the Community.

Not all links are created equal - even for Google Docs or Figma, for example, you can share Google Slides with all the UI options but there's also a link that will display actual presentation. It's a similar story with Figma.
ensure that your permissions setups for Confluence and Sharepoint are aligned. If you can't view the Sharepoint content, you won't be able to view from Confluence. From experience, if both environments are handled by the same login scheme (same SSO), the content is typically displayed without an issue (but the type of the link from the target environment may hamper that and require another login step).

Of course I tested only with links for OneDrive and SharePoint where I have access. But it doesn´t work with any link, regardless the sharing settings in OneDrive/SP. I tried with a file/link which is shared e.g. with the hole company or even with "Everyone". The links itself work in a new tab but they are not embedded or recognized as smartlink.

We´re indeed using EntraID as SSO provider, even for Atlassian (Guard).

Do smartlinks with OneDrive and SharePoint work for you?

We're not using SharePoint, I was just trying to sum up the most common issues that I encountered when trying to share / embed content on Confluence.

No, I do not know. I just tried that with a OneDrive link and although the link saved and took me to the document from the page, there was no way to embed the content as described in workaround.

Apparently that no longer works that way; sorry for the out-of-date suggestion.

I also cannot successfully add a hyperlink targeting a Sharepoint OneNote document. When pasting a SP URL via the editor's "Link" button, the editor display "We're having trouble loading data". Is the native link functionality not available to Sharepoint/OneNote docs?

I am also having this problem. Confluence doesn't recognize smartlinks, and cannot embed excel or powerpoint content from sharepoint as a result.

All confluence does is show a link to the file.

I see lots of responses about third party apps, but if Confluence is deprecating the Excel macro, and smartlinks/direct upload are intended to be the replacement, the replacement is not working. What is the solution?
