Table of Contents - Simplification

Hello Everyone,

I want to simplify our content management in Confluence.

First step I want to do is the Table of Contents. It's extremely long at the moment, records go on and on, because it shows every page, from the top to all the subs.

Is there a way to cut it down so it only shows the top and then a user can expand then downwards, on whichever topic they want?

Like in this case - just show the top and the expand it for Onboarding (and any other subs) and from there go downwards. Currently it shows absolutely everything.

Additionally, is there a way to order pages in different folders?

Just to clarify terminology - as you mention that Table of Contents "shows every page, from the top to all the subs."

Table of Contents macro shows all or selected headings on a single page.

Child pages macro shows the page titles of the child pages under any given parent (including the space's home page).

Both are customizable - showing here Child pages macro, the ToC macro has similar settings.

To get to the settings, simply hover over the macro until the settings icon emerges.

Hello @Błażej Czaja, as your question suggests, you would like to get something like this:

Show an expandable tree view for a selected page (defaults to a current page).

You can do the same thing using our User Macro for Confluence Cloud app.

I have created a template, so you can copy it to your instance and customize — Page Tree View — inside our app.

Upd: If you still need a table of contents, rather than a page tree, please let me know.

@Anatolii Starshekov _Wombats Corp_ Sadly I cannot add any extensions to our Confluence I still need simplified table of contents, option above don't seem to work I don't know why.

Plus I am still thinking of ways to cut down on the content.

Hello @Kristian Klima, thank you for help. Sorry for the late reply - should I press the "Child pages (Children Display)"? Because if yes, then nothing is happening. No matter how and what I click, nothing pops up and probably editing it like that would help.

@Kristian Klima okay, I managed for the icon to appear, but in Edge, not in Chrome, weird O.o It sadly doesn't help, because you can only choose one thing what you want to see. My idea was sort of closer to the answer I was given by @Anatolii Starshekov _Wombats Corp_ below, but I'm guessing it won't work without the extension?

@Błażej Czaja, I see your point; the only thing that allows customizing the built-in ToC macro is the Advanced tab > CSS class name. There's no much info about how to add those CSS classes though. On top of that, it's hardly possible to implement the macro's expand/collapse feature this way. Take care 😊
