🍾 What's your learning or certification New Year’s resolution? Here’s mine…

Happy 2025! 🎊 Entering a new year tends to bring about a time of reflection and setting intentions. Many of us will take this time to start the year fresh with new goals. These can be personal, professional, or both!

For example, one of my personal New Year’s resolutions is to create more connections with friends (and test my cooking skills) by hosting at least one dinner party this year! 👩‍🍳

As a member of the Atlassian University team, I also love challenging myself to learn more about our products. My professional New Year’s resolution is to earn at least two more certifications. Last year, I took the plunge and earned certifications in Jira Software Essentials and Confluence Essentials. Now, I’m hooked! I want to continue testing my product knowledge and earning those sweet badges for my profile.

I'm not going to call it a new year's resolution, but a personal goal for 2025. There are 3 Certifications I need to complete:

Atlassian Cloud Foundations - which I passed last week!
Jira Software Essentials
Jira Software Board Configuration

Finishing the remaining two will complete my certification collection (until any new ones are released). I'm also planning to complete both of those before Team '25. Hopefully, I can come back here with some good news soon!

I'm missing two JSM-related ACAs:

so my goal is to get these this spring or summer 🤓 I actually quite love going out to the terrace, bringing my laptop and a cup of coffee, and going through University courses while I prep. for the exams 😄

I've been a bit slack on actually doing the certifications (although I've done many of the Atlassian University courses), so personal goals for this year include working towards Atlassian Certified Agile DevOps Specialist, so I guess I'm going to be looking at:

This also helps towards Atlassian Certified ITSM Specialist, which in turn contains certifications that lead into Atlassian Certified Administration Expert, but those are further down the line.

Take advantage of Atlassian's FREE growth opportunities!!!
- Complete the FREE Learning Paths in Atlassian University for:
  - Loom
  - Rovo
- Join Live Learning Sessions (I'm looking at you, Jimmy!) and ACE virtual events
Earn one of the NEW Atlassian Certified Expert and Specialist designations
- I love that they're aligned to the Atlassian System of Work!
- Now to decide... which one?!

I told you I would be back if I had good news! As of this morning I successfully completed all the exams I listed above. I now hold all 12 certifications and all 3 designations. I'm feeling happy and excited that I completed this goal, but also I'm ready for a nap now

It's been a while since putting down these goals, so it's time to follow up on progress (and get 🎉 Bonus points):

I was going for Atlassian Certified Agile DevOps Specialist, which I now have after completing all 4 of:

I'm now going for the stretch goal of Atlassian Certified ITSM Specialist:

This is largely because our ITSM manager left the company, and the Programme Manager dealing with incident management between us and our main business partner retired last week and in his last email he said "any problems contact me", and they are!

I'm also reporting back just to say I've cleared my goal as well - passed both ITSM and JSM Essentials ACA exams )
I'm in the same boat as Jimmy now holding all 11 cloud certifications + one old pro skills badge, and all 3 designations 😄

Not sure what to do now though 😅
Btw, there should be one enamel pin for each cert, not just designations. Those are quite cool ✨

I may just have missed the timescale for necroing a post, but I wanted to close off my previous comments with an almost end of year update:

Which means I've now earned this the hard way (rather than the easy mode ACH way):

That's my certification goals for the year done, but now that there's an easy mode credential, I may (very much may rather than will given how close we are to the end of the year, and the end of my willpower) do Loom Essentials to get Atlassian Certified Teamwork Collection Specialist this year.

Everything else can wait until next year!
