How to make epics visible?

We have a problem: epics are not displayed.
We have reviewed all the settings, it is not displayed even in the backlog, moreover we tried to activate the epic panel in the backlog, but when you activate it it says: your project has no epics. In the end we created an epic through this panel, it appeared on it and immediately disappeared. That is, Jira does not read that there are epics, they are visible only in issies, but not in the board, but they are not even visible in the backlog. Moreover, when we have child-issuse linked to an epic, it should show the affiliation, but it doesn't. All settings look correct. Help us what can we do?

Hello @Katrina Lieber thank you for such amazing answer and detailing description, everything was clear, but we faced the situation that we have Team-managed project and you Company-managed project, and unfortunately it's not possible to switch this as far as I google it, anyway big thank you!

Hi @Timmyyarr , like Humashankar said, definitely check your filter query to see if it is exluding epics. You may also want to double check the location of the board and whether or not this board is pulling in issues from multiple projects.
