Methods for wildcard searching in label fields

Question

I've searched for this and found several existing feature requests, but I haven't found any good advice for alternatives to doing this in JIRA Cloud.   I see that ScriptRunner is recommended for JIRA Server.  Any advice here?

And of course, the obvious question...how to get ~ * into the JQL search feature :D

I see it's been a request since 2017 (...and I remember needing it much earlier than that!), so there must be some revenue tied to it not being boilerplate

If you're open to solutions from the Atlassian Marketplace, I think you'd like the app that my team and I are working on: JXL for Jira.

JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. One of the filtering options (available for all fields, including labels) is text filtering, which performs a partial match by default.

For more advanced use cases, you can also filter based on regular expressions.

I should also add that JXL can do much more than the above: From support for configurable issue hierarchies, to issue grouping by any issue field(s), sum-ups, or conditional formatting.

Hi Rowland,

The issueFieldMatch JQL function in the Enhanced Search feature of ScriptRunner for Jira Cloud may help as this allows this matching field values based on a regular expression that you define.
