We retrieve users and user info from Google Contacts. It seems like once it has been retrieved you can't update the user info. Changing it in Confluence has no effect. How do I get the new info in?

What are you using to sync data from google to confluence? Is it Confluence built-in feature or something custom?
IMO if this is Atlassian feature you can ask Atlassian support about this. If this comes from vendor please ask on vendor support.
