Time tracking calculation

Hello All,

Can anyone know how I can reduce the time logged in previous sprint from current sprint?

Do we have any automation or may be feature using that I can calculate the time which user has been logged in current sprint not that logged time that user carried forward from his previous sprint.

Jira’s native time tracking lacks the ability to distribute time and compare sprints based on custom calculations directly. If you are okay with add-on I can suggest you workaround using Time and Cost Tracker developed by my team. Workaround Using Time & Cost Tracker and Jira Filters: * Create a Custom Field in Jira for Sprint Classification: * Add a custom field in Jira to tag issues according to sprint-specific criteria, such as sprint type, workload, or any classification that matters for your analysis. This field will help filter issues within each sprint when generating reports. * Set Up Jira Filters Using JQL: * Use Jira’s JQL to create filters that isolate specific sprints based on the custom fields. For example, you can create separate filters for each sprint, targeting different criteria or types of work. * Example JQL: sprint = "Sprint 1" AND "Custom Field" = "Development" * Save these filters in Jira to use them when generating reports in Time & Cost Tracker. * Generate Time Reports Using Jira Filters: * In Time & Cost Tracker, go to the Time Reports section and select “Generate Time Report.” * * Use the saved Jira filters to select the specific sprints and issues you want to compare. This allows you to view and analyze time logs by sprint, user, or issue. * Compare the time reports side by side to assess how time was utilized in each sprint. * You can generate Time Report also for the period of two sprint, but add custom field with Sprint Value to you report view. By adding a separate column to the Time Report which will show which sprint it is for evey time entry, you van analyse every sprint time spent. * Generate Cost Reports for Additional Comparison: * Navigate to the Cost Reports section and generate separate reports for each sprint using the relevant Jira filters. These reports will show labor costs and expenses, providing an indirect view of time spent, especially useful if hourly rates are set for each user. * By comparing cost reports, you gain insights into how resources and time were distributed across different sprints. * You can also add Cost Reports to Portfolios, which acts like a folders for your Reports. * Export to Excel for Custom Visuals and Deeper Analysis: * For more granular analysis, export both time and cost reports to Excel. Use Excel to create custom comparisons and visual charts that highlight how each sprint performed in terms of time and cost. * You can export also Report for two sprints, but with Sprint Custom Field, which will allow you to see Time and Cost for each sprint separatly by filtering columns. * This approach allows for a deeper dive into sprint performance, helping you identify trends and areas for improvement. By using both Time Reports and Cost Reports from Time & Cost Tracker for Jira alongside Jira filters, you can create a powerful comparative analysis of your sprints. This method gives you a complete view of how time and resources were utilized, going beyond the limitations of native Jira capabilities. Worklogs Time Tracking & Timesheets

You can use the Sprint filter option to search for time spent in a particular sprint and use the worklogs from - to  dates to filter out the time spent entries only in particular date ranges.

You can easily view time entries for multiple issues day wise grouped by assignees in a single view. The app allows to filter/Categorize/Group By your worklogs data and a timesheet view too to track individual time spent. And what's more it can be added as a dashboard gadget.

I can suggest a solution in the form of our application that we offer - Worklogs - Time Tracking and Time Reports, but I'm not entirely sure it will meet your expectations based on what you described.

Our application displays the time logged in Jira issue - based on the native Jira time tracking tool.

In the app you can use the Sprint Filter to display issues and logged time from the particular sprint. The date range and issues will be adjusted to the chosen sprint.

Then you can export the data to the CSV file. In the app you can display another sprint and export the data again. With two exported files you can compare the issues and logged time.

Unfortunately, I do not know any automation which automatically compares the two sprints with respect to your need, but I thought it might be helpful.
