What does adding a custom field to Adv. Roadmaps actually do

I was a bit concerned when I noticed random users could potentially add custom fields to the controlled forms

Then I noticed it appears to do literally nothing on DC

Why was this added to DC if it doesn't do anything, and why is there no option to disable for groups

Additionally, the 'provide feedback on about this article' function on documentation pages fails to submit no matter what I do, so that's why I'm posting this here

Hi @Jordan Hauser ~ i realize this is an old question but thought I'd go ahead and answer it anyway.  Adding custom fields in Plans doesn't mean that users can CREATE new custom fields.  It simply means that they can pull in existing custom fields for use in filtering issues in Roadmaps (Plans).  Only Number fields, Single-line text fields, and Single-select drop-down fields can be included in Plans.  HTH
