Linking stories in Jira

Question

I have 2 projects in Jira.  Project 1 is the parent story.  Project 2 will be the story or task linked to the parent story.  Is it possible to have the comments from parent story included in the linked story or task?

Is there best practices for how to link stories between projects?

Just to clarify and get terminologies straight, I Think that you are saying you have two stories that you wish to link and the stories reside in different projects. Is that correct? Assuming so then your question is, can you include the comments from one story or task into the linked issue? And the answer to that would be yes, by using automation. You would set your trigger to comment added, and you would use conditions to qualify and verify that the comment is being made on the child issue, and if so, the action would copy the comment to the linked issue. There are quite a few posts in the community that discuss doing this very thing. It is worth noting that it doesn't matter whether the link issue was in a different project or not.

let me know if I'm on the right track here with what you're trying to accomplish and then maybe we can zero and on the automation role. Again there are a lot of posts that describe exactly how to do this in a community so you may want to search for something like " copy comments to linked issue".
