Assets - change the value automatically

Question

Hello,

I am creating a assets database and I want to have a field called "ID" which needs to be changed automatically when I create the assets.

Example:

If last created object has "ID" 1, when I create new object its "ID" should be 2.

I tried using some groovy script and attribute value change, but with no success.

Can you tell me if this is possible and if yes, how to do it?

Hello Lisa,

I know that the objects will get unique ID, but I need different one, since I am migrating this database and we already started numbering the assets with our numeration. We number our IT assets and store the serial number, but when we do some inventory counting it is easier to check our number( it is like IT00001). I know that this is text and number but if I store the number only as ID, then I can set the other part with Assets automation.The plan is to continue from where we are.

Hi Milen and welcome!

All objects will get an unique ID out of the box in Assets - the object key.

Can you tell me more about the use case and value you are trying to achieve with this additional attribute?
