how can we include the ability for the team to give Kudos in a retrospective session?

What Kudos system are you using? How does it fit into your organisation currently?

we are using Microsoft Teams and every now and then we give Kudos via the inbuilt function:
In retros I add another column at the beginning or end of a retro board. Works really well and the teams like that!
