Making field required in transition to new status.

Question

I am trying to make the comment field required when moving from status 'Not Started' to 'Closed.' I followed the steps of setting up a validator in this transition; however, when I went to test, it did not work like I was thinking.

I tried to transition to 'Closed' it gave me the error I need to add a comment. So, I added a comment, tried to transition to 'Closed' again, but got the same error.

What am I missing?

Hi Jason,

You need to create a new screen to use on the transition and either put just the Comment field on there or leave it blank because the Comment field will be there anyway.

Then add the screen to the transition in the workflow. Then publish the workflow and give it a new try.

You should fill in the Comments field in the screen that pops up when you execute the transition.

Hi Jason,

If you already setup the validator then please check if screen is added or not. If not then you need to add a screen on the transition and add the comment field under that screen. So, when you perform the transition at the same time you can add the comment and validator passed and moved ticket to next status.
