How to create additional Sub-task types

Hi

Seems that I am not able to create more than one subtask. Why is that? Is there a workaround or have I setup something wrong?

As seen in the picture, initially I can create a subtask but in the second case it doesn't allow me to change the type, just the icon.

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Currently Jira only allows one sub-task type in team-managed projects. It's not a setup issue on your end.

 

In Screenshot 1 shared by you (also refer below) where you have Subtask2 issue type created with subtask icon and No actual subtask added in it, that's why you are able to see the add subtask option.

 

but in second screenshot, you already have subtask issue type added in it, that's why subtask option is not there but you still can create subtask2 issue type with subtask icon.

Workarounds-

Labels or custom field - You can't create separate sub-task types, but you can use labels or custom fields to categorize your sub-tasks within the single type. 


Note 

Company Managed Projects - It allow you to create multiple sub-task types.
