Automation emailing a choice from a dropdown list

Question

I'm using automation along with an issue collector that when filled out will send an email when the issue is created. I'm able to get automation to email other fields (name, email, summary) but it won't send the selection made in the dropdown list on the collector.

The name of the field is location. In the email setup I tried

# of locations = {{issue.location[Dropdown]}}
# of locations = {{issue.location}}
# of locations = {{issue.location[Dropdown].name}}
# of locations = {{issue.location[Dropdown].number}}

None of them put the selected # in the email. What is the correct syntax to send the # the user selects for that field?

Ok, I changed the field name to the ID# of the field and it worked.

# of locations = {{issue.customfield_XXXXX}}

I copy/pasted the text you provided and it just gives me 0 as the result.

This is a single drop down select list.

First my disclaimer: I have not used issue collectors in a long time.  With that out of the way...

Just to confirm, you mapped the collector to your multiple select, custom field, correct?

If so, and that field is named location, you could try this: {{issue.location.size|0}}

The field is essentially a list of selected values and so the size function should work.
