I am trying to search on my board using a keyword in one of my custom fields. It doesn't populate anything. Please help!

Indeed. Keyword search searches in the summary, descriptions and comments on your issues. If you want to search for structured data (stuff you put in custom fields), add quick predefined quick filters to your board instead.
