I need to setup an automation where for a project the comments on an in-progress ticket get sent as update to slack channel at a set time.
Hello, Good day. You could explore the scheduled automation rule. Check the available smart values for comments at https://support.atlassian.com/cloud-automation/docs/jira-smart-values-issues/
Hi Mohanraj Thangamuthu,Thank you for the quick responsei need further conditions for this automationwhere the time needs to be a range instead of a fixed time.and also how to add a condition so that instead of all users in a project only specific users comments are sharedInstead of webhooks, can the following be done with Jira appintegrated in slack ?
Also how can i connect a project to slack via Jira slack app
You can get partway there with an Automation rule (trigger: comment added -> send Slack message), but the catch is it's one-way and you'll be maintaining the channel/webhook mapping and formatting yourself, plus there's no way for a Slack reply to become a Jira comment. Disclosure: I work on Threadmaker (https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/2757045414). It does two-way sync between a Jira issue and a Slack thread, so comments post over as they happen (no need to batch on a schedule) and replies typed in Slack come back into Jira as comments. Happy to show you how the mapping works if that's closer to what you need than a one-way automation.
