Confluence jira macro doesn't display the count of issues when count == 1

When using the Jira issue macro in Confluence page, I want to display a count of issues returned by the JQL query. For the most part this works well. (

However when the number of issues found is one, instead of display the result inline as '1 Issues', rather it displays the issue details e.g. 'BUP-XXXX Your summary text here - NEW'.

This is not the case with the legacy jira macro. Am i doing something wrong?

From the documentation:

Displaying a count of issues
You can choose to display the number of issues returned by your search, rather than a table of issues. The Jira Issues macro will display a count of issues, linked to the search in your Jira application.
To display an issue count:
Add the Jira Issues macro to the page.
Define your search criteria in the macro browser via JQL, as described above.
Select Display options, then select Total issue count next to 'Display options' in the macro browser.
Select Insert.

Not sure how this could be fixed. I was also playing with it and was not able to make it display the count.

You could try the Filter Statistics macro instead.

Or, if you are willing to try a payed app, you could use the Issue Filter Formula macro or the Advanced Issue Filter Formula macro offered by our Great Gadgets app. They can display not only the count of issues, but also any formulas.

I have been having the same issue for a few weeks now. Yesterday, I was logged out of my Atlassian (Atlas now?) and had to re-log in. I got a welcome email from Atlas. Today it is working again by using:

Insert Elements > Jira Issues > Switch to JQL > Switch to Inline Link > Paste JQL

After pasting the JQL link, it is now showing me the count (as opposed to the "BUP-XXXX Your summary text here - NEW") that is was showing me yesterday and the past few weeks.

It seems like getting booted out and having to re-log in fixed this. Hopefully this means the issue will be fixed on your end soon. Under "Inline Link" it says "display number of search results" so I have a feeling this will be back up soon.

Okay update. It is working now for all of them except JQL queries that pull only one issue. Then it gives me all the info for that one issue... but it didn't do this before. My workaround for rn is to change it to URL once the issue is inserted and then just edit the display text to say "1 issue." Then if they have another, hopefully it will change...

I'm trying to maintain dynamic dashboard tables (each cell has a macro) and so manually updating is out of the question. There are 20-30 cells! Thank you for trying.

For queries that pull more than one defect, does the Jira Macro "count" option display "X Issues" or does it still give all of the details?

For me, it was previously only giving a table of details instead of the count regardless of how many issues the query pulled. Now, it only gives the details if there is just one issue. Otherwise it will display the count (if there is more than one issue, or if there are 0). So my workaround is going into Jira, creating an issue, inserting the macro into confluence (it now displays "2 issues,") then deleting the jira ticket, and then boom it says "1 issue" on confluence. This should work if its showing you the details of the tkt when there are 2 or more... hopefully this helps

I found a work around. When there is only one result, go ahead and insert using the "List" format. Once the List is rendered in the page, edit the settings to change the format to be "Inline". It will render the result as "1 Issues".

Another workaround that I found is to add another issue that is pulled by the query, insert so it shows "2 Issues," then after it is inserted, remove that "test issue" and it will display "1 Issues." I just kept this "test issue" as a resolved issue assigned to myself.
