How can I convert a code snippet back to normal text?

I converted normal text into a code snippet using the "Code Excerpt" insert function. However, that was wrong. But it was only noticed after many other actions. Later I wanted to convert this code snippet back to text.

Sadly the code snippet cannot be reverted back to the original text, since there is only an option to delete it when you highlight it.
