Count number of days between

Hello!

I am working to create a dashboard about bugs that were created with a certain priority (number per month, month to month comparison, etc).

I would like to have it also show a count of how many days since the last bug with a certain priority was reported. Such as 5 days since last bug reported.

How can this be done?

You can use a JQL for example :

project = yourproject AND issuetype = Bug AND created >= startOfDay(-5d)

Then use this filter to create your dashboard with the gadget " filter result "

That is one thing I have in place but that lists bugs created in last number of days.

I am hoping to show a count of the days since a bug was created. Like you see those signs that says 10 days since last safety incident.

Maybe you can create custom field "date picker " and use a JQL to subtract the two dates, i refer you to this :

if you're open to solutions from the Atlassian Marketplace, you may want to check out the app that my team and I are working on, JXL for Jira.

JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a number of advanced features, including support for (configurable) issue hierarchies, issue grouping by any issue field(s), sum-ups, or conditional formatting.

With these, you can build a view like the one below in just a couple of clicks:

As you can see, this view is fully interactive, meaning that you can work on your issues directly in JXL (but also trigger various operations in Jira, or export your data to CSV or Excel in just a click).

I should add that JXL doesn't currently have a dashboard gadget (but will have, soon!) - but many of our customers simply use a JXL sheet as a de-facto dashboard.

As an alternative, you can try - Time in Status for Jira, (developed by my team) that generates 7 types of status reports including time in status report. It also shows how long the issue was in a particular status, but it gives more abilities:

filter data by the necessary criteria (assignee, project, sprint, epic, etc);
export report to CSV or XLSX files;
share report with analytical systems (Power BI, Qlik, etc).

Moreover, it allows to display time in status data directly on the Issue card layout without entering the add-on.

Also Status Entrance Date report will useble for you. It shows the date a particular issue has entered each of a status (Resolved or Closed, etc.).

On the chart, it shows the number of tasks that have entered a status on a certain date - for example, 1 task out of 5 tasks has entered the Progress status for the first time on the 23-rd of May.

I would like to introduce you to a very advanced tool with which you can easily access the reports you request. I can recommend Time in Status which is built by my team at OBSS. It is available for both Jira Cloud, and Data Center.

Time in Status reports can be accessed through its own reporting page, dashboard gadgets, and issue view screen tabs. All these options can provide both calculated data tables and charts.

You can take a look at the dashboard screenshot I have prepared for you below. I think this type of report and dashboard will meet your needs exactly.

If I need to summarize the app quickly. Time in Status mainly allows you to see how much time each issue spent on each status or each assignee. You can combine the time for multiple statuses to get metrics like Response Time, Issue Age, Cycle Time, Lead Time, Resolution Time etc. (Please see the screenshot below)

For all numeric report types, you can also calculate averages and sums of those durations grouped by the issue fields you select. For example total in-progress time per customer or average resolution time per sprint, week, month, issuetype, request type, etc. The ability to group by parts of dates (year, month, week, day, hour) or sprints is particularly useful here since it allows you to compare different time periods or see the trend.

The app calculates its reports using already existing Jira issue histories so when you install the app, you don't need to add anything to your issue workflows and you can get reports on your past issues as well. It supports both Company Managed and Team Managed projects for Jira Cloud.

If you prefer to use a marketplace app, you can try Status Time Reports app developed by our team. It mainly provides reports and gadgets based on how much time passed in each status.

Here is the online demo link, you can see it in action and try without installing the app. For your case, you can have a look at Time in Status for Each Issue report. You can filter by Issue Type, Status, Assignee, Created fields or by typing your own JQL(using "Switch to JQL" button).

This app has a dynamic status grouping feature so that you can generate various valuable reports as time in status, time in assignee, status entry dates and status counts, cycle time and lead time, resolution time, average/sum reports by any field(e.g. average in progress time by project, average cycle time by issue creation month).

You can search issues by Project, Issue Type, Status, Assignee, Issue Creation/Resolution Date(and any other Date field) and JQL Query.
Status durations are calculated according to the working calendar you define. Once you enter your working calendar into the app, it takes your working schedule into account too. That is, "In Progress" time of an issue opened on Friday at 5 PM and closed on Monday at 9 AM, will be a few hours rather than 3 days.
You can set different duration formats.
You can export reports in CSV file format and open them in MS Excel.
