I have a project linked to a screen that has the Epic Name field configured but I am not able to view it when creating or viewing an issue. Any ideas why?

You need to add the Epic Link field, if you are trying to add an issue to an Epic while creating the issue. Epic Name is the name of the actual Epic, while creating the Epic.
