Can I lock the default value for Approver Groups field

I have a JSM project to manage change in our business. In the workflow I have a transition that includes an approval step to ensure the our Change Advisory Board review and approve/decline changes. I have set the Approver Groups field as hidden and defaulted to our CAB Approvers group in the Request Form to hidden. The issue I have is that the business largely use the Issue View rather than the portal, from this view the Approvers Group is not only visible but also editable - which for obvious reasons we don't want. Is there a way to lock this field so the default value remains? Or perhaps hide it from the Issue View as well?

Hi @Kelly Dunn 

You can't do this using default values in Request Types; adding the field into the type will automatically add it back to the screen.

However, it should work via Automation -

Remove Field:

• Open your Project Settings
• Select Screens from the left-hand menu
• Click on the relevant Screen, based on association to your Request Type
• Find the Approver Groups field, and remove it

The Rule:

Something like this should work...

• Trigger: Issue Created
• Condition: Issue Fields Condition
  • Field = Request Type
  • Condition = equals
  • Value = Relevant Request Type here
• Action: Edit Issue
  • Field = Approver Groups
    • Value = Set Group here
