JIRA Automation: Copy Feature Estimate value to Story Points field

Question

Hi Folks,

I have 2 Projects. One Parent project that has the features and a Child project that has the stories which are child issues under the Features in the Parent Project.

I need the total of the child issues to sum up and reflect in the Feature Story points field with limited access (Do not have JIRA admin access)

I see the sum I am looking for under the Estimates label in the Feature backlog view as highlighted below. Is there a way to copy that value to the Story Points custom field in the Feature

For above use case where user may not have access to create automation rule spanning multiple projects but has has "access" to both projects, that is, can get access token from the "stories" project if different... they can use web request action, make an API call to get all stories and add the points..

I am in DC edition, used this end point (LINK) and made a get call and did {{webhookresponse.body.issues.fields.mystorypointsfield.sum}} on response to get the sum. So in theory should be able to run a scheduled rule to do this on a set frequency across all features.

BTW, huge fan of @Bill Sheboy  and love reading & learning from your posts whenever free, of course I other favorites here but you are on the top!!

Hi @Pallavi Murthy -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

If you had Jira site admin access (or could work with your site admin to help), you could create an automation rule spanning the two projects to do this.  The reason this requires at least site admin access is this will be a multi-project rule.

Without site admin access, your options are:

* manually update the issues using the Jira UI
* export all of the stories from the one project to a spreadsheet, sum the results, and then use issue import to update the issues in the other project
