In the meantime, if you're willing to use a third party app, I can suggest our application called Elements Publish that allows you to publish data from Jira issues directly into Confluence like:

* Summary, description, fields, or attachments
* Comments (and latest comment as you suggested)
* Content from the issues source as well as the parent and the children
* Dynamic list of Jira issues using the native macro Jira Issues/Filters

Yes i am using JQL to get the details, but i want more customization. I want to include my own columns as well. So i can add additional details for the tickets in weekly summary. Including latest comment will be one of the option as well.
