How to have less clutter & more content in Jira list view?

Rob Bl

In ../jira/core/projects/project_name/list..

Is there a way to reduce the clutter of the JIRA UI so you can focus on the actual tickets?

The JIRA menus (Your Work, Projects, Filters...) + project name + project menus (Summary, Board, List...) + Search/Members/Share/Filter + permanent [Create] bar at the bottom of the screen take up FORTY-SIX PERCENT of the vertical space in my browser (13.3" in browser with tabs, address bar & bookmark bar).

This leaves only 54% of the screen for actual tickets.

Just being able to reduce the size of the Project Name & icon would be helpful. But I'll take anything, really. I just want a workspace where only half the screen is actual workspace.

Hi @Rob Bl

I don't know if this issue justifies additional tooling for you, but just to put it out there:

If you're open to solutions from the Atlassian Marketplace, I think you might like the app that my team and I are working on, JXL for Jira.

JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. In a sense, JXL has a few things in common with Jira's list view, however it comes with a number of advanced features, and also works in (and across) projects of any project type, not just Jira Work Management projects.

Plus, JXL has a much narrower layout, and can now be viewed in a new full-screen mode that hides Jira's top and side bar.

This is how it looks compared to Jira's list view (JXL on the right):

Any questions just let me know,

Best,

Hannes

Hi Rob,

I feel your pain on this one. There are a few things to reduce the space everything takes up screenwise.

One of the easiest things you can do is click the arrow on the top left side next to the project name. This will free up a little space.
Next, you can collapse your columns to free up space. Do this by clicking more on the right-hand side then click "Collapse all columns."

You can also just save yourself the trouble by using Visor.us where you can create custom views and it won't take up the entire screen.

Thanks, @Michael Yaroshefsky - Visor for Jira , but your suggestions only improve horizontal space in Jira. I want to get more rows showing in the List view. I want more vertical space.
