Document File Path for Inventory

Question

Hello,

I recently joined my team to clean up our knowledge base and manage it. My first step is logging current inventory. I'm trying to capture each documents file path which I can see is located in the top left corner of each article. When I try and copy and paste it's either only copying one part of the path as a hyperlink or pasting in a numbered format such as

* Main Category
* Sub Category
* Document

What I am looking for is Main Category/Sub Category/Document

I am pasting into Excel but I have tried also pasting in various other applications. I can get it to paste as Main Category  Sub Category but it omits the hyphens. I realize I can manually add them but this is a massive collection and doing that is not practical. Is there another way to obtain this information?

If I understand correctly, you're trying to build an Excel spreadsheet (the "inventory") from your Confluence Cloud pages. You're doing this, because you plan to manually track the status of your Knowledge Base in Excel.

As you already realized, even the first step (building the page list) is tedious and, trust me, it will be much worse for the long term. You would have to add every new page, remove the deleted ones, follow renames, follow page moves, manually refresh the status, etc.

Note that the same exact problem exist on any Confluence site, the larger the site and the team the harder the problem. That's exactly why we started to develop the Better Content Archiving app more than 10 years ago, and helped Amazon or LinkedIn to clean up their content.

The app which will automatically track the status of each page after you configured the statuses. It will give you reports and page lists. You can build your dashboards using macros. It will send notifications about the content that needs an update. It will automatically archive that should be "cleaned up". And so on.
