Issue visible in multiple projects

Hello,

We use jira for many different teams :
- data
- sap
- cloud
- crm
- etc

We now need to have tickets wich are visible & manageable in multiple projects.

Exemple : The CRM team is working on an Epic, this epic has 4 Stories but they need a 5th story which will be done by the CLOUD team, therefore they create this 5th issue & add a component called "CLOUD"

Result : the 5th issue with the CLOUD component created in the CRM project, is also visible in the CLOUD project (yeah ! it works !)

Problem : the timeline is not available anymore and we're force to use "Plans MultipleRoadmap"

Question 1 : can we avoid Plans Multiple Roamap & keep using single timeline per project with the cross project issue ?

Question 2 : can we delete epic & stories in Plan Multiple Roadmap (completely delete, not only delete from Plan)

Question 3 : is there any other solutions to have a issue visible in at least 2 projects ?

1. No. The simple Timeline feature can display information from one and only one project. If you want data from multiple projects you have to use the Plans feature.

2. I am unclear about what you want to accomplish here. If you delete an issue it is permanently and unrecoverably removed from your instance. What exactly are you trying to accomplish by deleting items from a Plan? If you don't want those items included in the Plan you can use Exclusions to exclude them from the Plan.

3. A Jira Project is a container for issues. An issue exists in one and only one Project. You can display issues from multiple projects in a Board because a board uses a filter to select the issues to display and the filter can be constructed to include multiple projects. So, no, a single issue cannot exist in two Projects simultaneously, but can be shown in multiple Boards. If you truly need to have a copy of the issue in multiple projects then you need to actually make a copy of the issue in each project.

I'm really thankful that you tried & spend time on this.

Question 1 : ok thanks, i did think so

Question 2 : Regarding deleting issues, i want to delete issues from the tool : Plans Multiple Roadmap, not to only hide them from it. I don't see any option to do that so far. We can only delete issues from jira Projects (is that more clear ?)

Question 3 : I actually use issues which are visible in multiple projects through componant, this does work, it's a done deal. If i made it work, there might be another method to do it, that wouldn't need componant & therefore that wouldn't force me to use "Plans Multiple Roadmaps'

Question 2: I'm still not understanding what you mean be deleting the issue from Plans. Plans is displaying issue based on Issue Sources which are references to project, boards, and filters. Issues exist only in Projects. All other features (filters, boards, Plans) are simply referencing the issues that are in projects.

In a Plan you can set up Exclusions so that issues that are otherwise included in your Issue Sources are excluded from the Plan.

But you can't "delete" an issue in a Plan.

If you added a new issue in the Plan and have not yet committed the changes to the plan, then in that case the issue exists only in the Plan and has not been saved into a project. In that case the issue will show in the plan with only the project key, but no numeric suffix such as this.

In that case the issue does not actually exist within any project yet, and you can "delete" it from the Plan by using the Review Changes feature in the Plan and selecting that issue then select Discard Selected Changes option.

Question 3:

If you are using "component" to make the issues visible, they are not "in" multiple projects. You may be using the Component value to make the issue visible on a Board (which uses a filter for selecting the issues), but the issue is not "in" more than one project. The project that contains the issue is indicated by the alphabetic prefix of the issue key. In my image above that would be the "TCSC" portion of "TCSC-2".

If you think you have an issue that is "in" more than one project based on a value you put in the Components field, please provide screen images demonstrating that. I guarantee you that it is not possible for an issue to be "in" more than one project.

Question 1 : ok got it, yeap i wanted to delete them directly from Plan but as You mentionned, this is not possible, thank You

Question 3 : You're completely right, therefore i assume that my explained weren't good enough, sorry for that. So, yeah my Issues are visible in multiple projects.

So is there any other way to make issues visibles in multiple projects apart using components ?

Basically i would like to :
- use basic Timeline & not the Plans Roadmaps
- have issues visible in multiple projects
