How can I automate asset discovery in AWS and JIRA SM Cloud?

Question

I have a JIRA Service Management Cloud Version and we use AWS, I would like to know if its possible to auto discovery infrastructure using JIRA? If it's possible, I also would like to know how to do it.

I know that we can use the JIRA Asset Discovery app, but I what I really want to know is how can I automate the search only using SM interface.

Haven't tried the Discovery functions yet as a lot of ports and whitelisting needs to take place on AWS side to allow for data extraction. Looking at security this is not really a suitable option. Using CSV files and placing them on a secure server and retrieving them from Jira via Automation is an option but again, that sever needs to be able to communicate with Atlassian and is therefore not suitable either.

Using Lambda scripting to automate provisioning and then API requests does the trick. On AWS side you know what is provisioned and what is deprovisioned so it makes sense to have the logic coming from AWS. Using the REST API's you can then create objects in the Asset database. Unfortunately the script is under strict proprietary so I cannot share that.
