Is there a way to make Priority field read only without having to create a new screen for it ?

Please can you elaborate the use case you're trying to achieve here. Not quite sure where you want to make the screen read-only and what would be the intention behind it.
what i want to achieve is have the priority field non editable. it will be set automatically based on a rule and i dont want to be manually overwritten.
