How can I import long text into JDPs Idea description?

Hey!

We are moving data from Airtable to Jira Discovery. The issue is that we have multiple long-text-fields from Airtable, which we cannot import into JDP because there is only short-text-fields.

Now, I merged all the long-text fields in GSheets to import them into the Idea's description.

The problem I am facing is that I cannot find anything to map.

Can you help me out with that? Other solutions to the problem are also welcome!

What is the format of your Google sheet? Are you using the External System Import Tool to import your issues?

I prefer to use CSV when importing issues. Here's an article on all the things importing from CSV: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/import-data-from-a-csv-file/

They key is in the mapping once you've started importing. There is a character limit on Description and it is 32,767 characters, so maybe you could be hitting that?

Found it, I had a custom field called Description too. Thanks a lot!

I am using the External System Import, yes.

One more question:

I have issues importing the Due Dates, even though I formated the data into the one that JIRA suggests when importing .csv files.

Is there another solution you would know of?

The custom fields will get you every time! I recommend finding and changing the name of that field!
