Differencs between Single-Site and multiple site in cloud

Hello,

we are currently running Jira and confluence on our own premises and will migrate both to cloud soon. Before doing so, there is the decision to make whether we want to have both on one site in the cloud or have multiple sites, one for each application.

Neither the support at atlassian nor the interwebs could show me what the main difference between the two models is.

If i have both applications on one site, will ther be some kind of "landing page" where i select if i want to open jira or confluence? do they both have different subdomain names?

I would like to get an understanding what this would in the end look like for the everyday user. Can someone enlighten me and help me choose what approach i should take?

You want Confluence and Jira on a single site.

You will be able to navigate between them using the apps menu (see picture below). But more importantly, features to link between Confluence and Jira will automatically be available.

You would use multiple sites if you have different businesses or units that operate independently of each other. Each site would then have their own Confluence, Jira...

There is also the Atlassian Start screen which gives you an overview of all Atlassian applications and pages, issues etc that you've recently worked on.

Administrating is easier if done in one organization. That way you only need to administer your domains, users and groups in one place and not multiple.

Hello,

thanks for the clearificytion.

Our userbase of confluence and jira, that we run on our own premises, slightly differs. Means: we have 45 Jira users, and 46 confluence users. but the userbase is different for both. Some users use both applikations, some exist only in confluence and some only in jira. If i have just one userbase in the one-site cloud setup, that would be like ~70 users overall, some of them using only confluence, some of them jira and some both.

Since we want to go for the 50 user tier in the cloud, will this work? Or do we have to aim for the 51-100 user tier for that to work?

If you go to https://admin.atlassian.com/, you can manage users and product for each application.

Regarding license, I would suggest you to contact Atlassian Support directly in https://support.atlassian.com/contact/#/

@tetralog systems AG Cloud does not have tiers like Server does. You will be charged for the number of users who have access to Confluence or Jira.
