Using Jira Work Management and Jira Software together

zacharoula_brinia

I am working on a Company Managed - Software development project with scrum board. Can I have a work/ business management project for exporting reports and project management services aligned with the issues of my already set-up software development project, please?

Thanks!

You can create a new JWM project yes, but what do you mean by "aligned with the issues in the software project"?

Do you mean you want to clone all the issues from the software project, or do you want some form of synchronisation between the projects? (or both)

@Nic Brough -Adaptavist- Thank you for your reply. I would say the second option for issues tracking insights and project management approach.

Ok, you'll need to write stuff that can sync what you need. You could try this in automation, but it could get very complicated very quickly.

I would recommend using an app to do it instead - people have already done all the code for you and it won't be months before you can start using it. I've worked with the first three on https://marketplace.atlassian.com/search?hosting=cloud&query=sync but you should look for yourself!

Hi @zacharoula_brinia

This is Majid @ Exalate.

As Nic pointed out earlier, the go to approach here would be to use an app to sync the issues between the two projects. I work for Exalate and have set up plenty of these integrations. Please let me know if you need a hand here.

Thanks

@zacharoula_brinia hey there. If you're open to using a 3rd party solution to sync Jira & JWM - check out ZigiOps. It's 100% code-free, easy to customize, and connects systems bi-directionally. It will help you sync those issues fast and easily. Check to out - you can even test it yourself via our free trial version.

Hi @zacharoula_brinia

Issue Sync Pro is the latest solution among synchronization apps, which also might serve the use case you have described and connect two separate projects (even on separate Jira instances). The app is free, quick to set up, and easy to maintain.
My team (I work for the app vendor), is currently coding the feature allowing admins to synchronize issues that already exist in given projects.
If that sounds interesting we can arrange a free demo, or you can try it out by yourself.

Fingers crossed for finding the best solution for your case!

Hi @zacharoula_brinia , Umer here PMM for Backbone Issue Sync for Jira - here to join the Issue sync app party! 😎

As mentioned before by @Nic Brough -Adaptavist-, you'd need an issue sync app, such as Backbone, to keep your issues in sync between your Jira Software and Jira Work Management projects.

Using Backbone, you can sync all issues in real-time and keep them up-to-date along with other data such as comments, attachments, workflows, and project versions.

You can also manage the flow of information via uni- or bi-directional control settings and use customized access control settings to ensure foolproof data privacy.

In case you're interested in learning more, feel free to schedule a free demo
or try Backbone for free for the first 30 days!

Happy Collaborating,
Umer Sohail
