List all Epics and their connected Stories in dashboard

Jonas Richter

Hello,

I would like to create a table that lists all Epics in my project as well as their connected Stories, e.g.:

Epic 1 : Story 1

Epic 1 : Story 2

Epic 2 : Story 3

Epic 2 : Story 4

Epic 2 : Story 5

Is something like this possible through JQL?

Thanks!

Hi @Jonas Richter , what about using something like this...

project = abc and "Epic Link" is not empty order by "Epic Link" desc

(adjust to meet your needs)

then use Filter results gadget and add the Epic Link as a column

The solution from @Jack Brickeylooks really nice and should solve the case.

In addition, you could use that JQL-query and use the two-dimensional-filter statistics gadget.

If you configure the axis with Epic Link and Status, you'll get a really nice overview of the amount of stories which are allocated to your Epics.

If you use the filter "project = abc and issuetype = story" you also get the stories which are not allocated to your epics within this overview.

Please note: That's not the solution you asked for, but maybe a nice addition in regard to management and reporting

Hi @Jonas Richter ,

You could try the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) dashboard gadget offered by our Great Gadgets app. It does the grouping for you and displays the issues from a filter in form of Epic > Stories, Tasks > Subtaks along with their status.

All you have to do is to create a filter that returns all the issues to be grouped (epics and stories in your case), and to configure the gadget to use this filter.

This app offers many other gadgets that you might find useful.

Thank you,

Hello @Velagapudi, Srikanth

Thanks for reaching out!

It looks like, that your Stories are not linked to any Epic yet. You can easily check that by clicking on the hyperlink of the total unique issues. You then get the filter results in a table, and you should be able to create epic links for each issue by editing them one by one. If you have the permission, you could also add all the stories which belong to one specific epic by using the bulk edit function. That should save a little time

Hope this helps

Kind regards,

Chris

@Velagapudi, Srikanth , please try to use Parent instead of Epic Link and use IssueType as Story in your JQL Query for Filter
