Unable to fetch email address using Api

Is there a way to fetch user email address?
I am aware of the recent changes regarding this because of the GDPR, but from the settings profile page I see:

And still even as Admin I am unable to get the user email address

Even if the user selects the Anyone I am still unable to fetch the email address of assigned user
