Jira Automation - date + short text number = date

Hi all,

I'm trying to use a Duration field (short text) to update my Due date field. The math will hopefully be:

Start date + Duration = Due date

with the Duration being number of days.

I've tried the following iterations based on other posts in the community but none of these worked:

Would you please post an image of the audit log details showing the rule execution? That may provide some context for this symptom. Thanks!

I tried this and this worked for me with a short text field:

Hi Bill!

What I was observing happening was that I was getting a successful run of the automation but that the due date field was still empty. I just replaced the line I had with what you've listed above and it worked. I'm still not quite sure why it was giving be a success message with no date update before but I'm happy it's working now.

When I write up a ticket the due date is present, however once I submit it I can no longer see the due date.

Would this be something that my development team can add back on the the view or is the due date no longer visible once the ticket is submitted.

2 weeks ago, I was able to see the due date that I placed on each item, now the date disappears upon submission.

I am glad to learn that is working!

Smart values are name, spacing, and case-sensitive, so perhaps there was something the rule didn't like. When something looks like it should work, but it does not, here are a few things to try:

Use this how-to article to confirm the smart values are correct: https://support.atlassian.com/cloud-automation/docs/find-the-smart-value-for-a-field/
Write the values to the audit log to see if they contain what you expect
Start over with a new rule. Rule can get bent/broken by too many edits, and so starting fresh and solve some symptoms. Just remember to disable/delete the old rule if the new one works :^)
