JQL filter issues by Parent Status

Question

Hello,

I need a filter that I can use which shows all the issues that belong to a project and in which the parent status != Done.

Something like this one... but having the status filter limited only to the parent (not all the issues):

project = myProject AND status != Done AND Sprint in openSprints() ORDER BY key ASC, parent ASC, Rank ASC

Basically: only hide anything with a parent status = Done... and show all else.

Even issues in Done should be shown as long as their parent's not in Done status.

For anyone else looking for a solution, I solved this by creating a Jira automation that adds/removes a label to all sub tasks when the parent is transitioned to a specified status. Then you can just use that label for filtering. See attached photo for automation example.

Unfortunately not.  You're looking for the ability to establish subqueries which native JQL just isn't advanced enough to handle on its own.
