Change child's status based on parent's status by automation

Hello, 

 

I've created a workflow for creating a new issue:

• once the new issue is created it is transitioned into another area
• After the issue is transitioned into that are 
• subtasks created

However when I click on the issue card I notice the child status remains the same and doesnt chnage, how can I change it to match the transition it's made?

It sounds like the subtasks are not moving through the workflow when the parent issue is transitioned.

To resolve this issue, there are a few steps you can take:

 

1. Ensure that the subtasks are associated with the correct workflow. You can do this by going to "Settings -> Issues -> Issue types" and selecting the subtask issue type. Make sure that the correct workflow is associated with the subtask issue type.
2. Check the workflow status of the subtask issues. When you create a subtask, it should inherit the initial status of the workflow associated with the subtask issue type. Check to see if the subtasks have the correct initial status.
3. Confirm that the subtask transition is linked to the parent issue transition. When you create the transition that moves the parent issue to the next area, make sure that it is also triggering a transition on the subtasks to move them to the required status.
4. Confirm that the parent issue transition has a post-function that creates the subtasks. You can do this by going to the workflow designer, selecting the transition that moves the parent issue to the next area, and then checking the post-functions. There should be a post-function that creates the subtasks.

Once you have taken these steps, test the creation of a new issue and the associated subtasks.

If the subtasks are still not moving through the workflow, you may need to review the workflow conditions and validators to ensure that they are not preventing the transition.
