Copy labels from linked subtask to parent issue

Hello,

I'm trying to create an automation that will copy the labels from the subtask to the parent taks. I've explored similar questions in the community but they are all based on having an issue type that = subtask, which isn't my case.

When I link an issue as "is a subtask of", I want to copy all the labels from that issue and add them to the linked parent issue.

So far I have:

When: Issue Created
Then: Re-fetch issue data
And: edit field issues, labels > copy labels from ____ but I don't have the option f subtask?

Additionally, if the parent issue has 3 subtasks linked, I want all labels from all subtasks to be in the parent issue.

I can help you with the first part of your question. You should create a rule like the following:

add labels.png

This rule will add all the labels from the destination issue (is subtask of) to the current (is parent of) issue.

Hi Alex,

Thank you super much for your prompt reply! I feel like I'm almost there but a couple of things:

1. I don't have the option of types: Parent/Child in the 1st step When. I only Have "Subtasks" and "is-subtask-of" which is weird!

2. In the last step I also don't have the "Field to copy value from".

See below.

Could this be because I'm not a Jira Admin? I'm looking to get my permissions upgraded this week.´

@carolina you have to replace my link type with your link type. From what I see, what you've chosen is correct.

About the copy thing on the Edit Issue component, hit the three dots next to "dark label button" and you will see more actions
