How do I add create and edit fields that create links to different sites?

Hey everyone,

Sorry for the vague question, I'm new to confluence and am not entirely sure how to word my question. 
I'm currently working on creating a template for our partner management team, with fields that need to be filled out by the stakeholder, and link to various things like profiles in our CRM tool.
The page template I selected has these light gray fields with italicized text, and when I click them I can add links etc.
However, I'm unable to edit the text within the original field, and even copy and pasting them tends to mess with their format (such as making them bold, and then I can't edit them to remove the bold feature).

The text you are seeing is instructional text that has been placed on the page template you are using.  You should be able to click it which will highlight it and then just type to replace it with normal text.
